YOUR EYE EXAM

More than "better one, or better two?"

Every exam at our practice is a full health check for your eyes. Here's what we offer, what happens during your visit, and which exam is right for you.

👁️ Comprehensive Eye Exam

RECOMMENDED YEARLY FOR MOST ADULTS
The foundation of good eye care. We measure your vision and update your prescription, but we also evaluate the complete health of your eyes — inside and out.
  • Vision & refraction: precise prescription for glasses or contacts
  • Eye health evaluation: checking the cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve
  • Pressure testing: screening for glaucoma
  • Early disease detection: cataracts, macular degeneration, and signs of systemic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure often show up in the eyes first

🧒 Pediatric Eye Exam

BECAUSE KIDS DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY CAN'T SEE

Children rarely complain about blurry vision — they assume everyone sees the way they do. Undetected vision problems can hold kids back in reading, sports, and confidence. Our pediatric exams are gentle, unhurried, and paced for young patients.

  • Vision development: checking that both eyes focus, track, and team together
  • Lazy eye & crossed eyes: screening for amblyopia and strabismus, which respond best to early treatment
  • School readiness: making sure vision supports learning, not fights it
  • Kid-friendly frames: durable eyewear in the showroom, fitted right

🔵 Contact Lens Exam & Fitting

COMFORT IS NOT OPTIONAL

Contact lenses sit directly on your eye, so a proper fitting matters as much as the prescription. We measure the shape and health of your cornea, then match you with lenses that stay comfortable all day.

  • Fitting & measurement: curvature, size, and tear film evaluation
  • Lens options: daily disposables, monthlies, astigmatism (toric) and multifocal lenses
  • Training: first-time wearers learn insertion, removal, and care before leaving
  • Follow-up: we confirm the fit is healthy after real-world wear

🩺 Medical & Ocular Disease Exam

OPHTHALMIC MEDICINE, IN-OFFICE

When something is wrong — an infection, an injury, sudden changes in vision, or a chronic condition — you need a medical eye exam, not just a vision check. Dr. Mottola diagnoses and manages a broad range of ocular conditions.

  • Red, painful, or injured eyes: infections, abrasions, foreign objects
  • Dry eye disease: diagnosis and personalized treatment plans
  • Glaucoma management: monitoring and treatment to protect your optic nerve
  • Diabetic eye exams: annual retinal evaluation for patients with diabetes
  • Cataract & macular degeneration: tracking, guidance, and co-management
